How to play Slide

Slide numbered tiles around a board with one empty square until they read 1, 2, 3… in order.

Goal

Slide the numbered tiles into order, with the gap in the bottom-right corner, in as few moves as you can.

The board is 3×3 on Easy and Medium and 4×4 on Hard and Expert. One square is a gap.
Click a tile next to the gap to slide it into the gap.
Put the tiles in order, 1 first, reading left to right and top to bottom.
Each level shows a par, the length of a good solution, and how many moves you may use. Solve it within that allowance to score.
If you give up, or use too many moves, the explanation shows a solution you can follow.

On a 3×3 board the finished picture is 1 2 3 / 4 5 6 / 7 8 and the gap.

If 8 is just above the gap, click 8 to slide it down. The gap moves to where 8 was.

Solve the top row first, then the next, working down. Leave finished rows alone.
The last two tiles of a row are the tricky part: park the second one below the first, then rotate them in together.
With two rows left, solve column by column instead.
Plan the route of the gap before you move, since every wasted move counts.
On Easy and Medium, a hint shows the next move.

Every correct answer is worth 100 points, scaled by difficulty (Easy ×0.8, Medium ×1, Hard ×1.3, Expert ×1.6).
Answering within 3 seconds adds a 25-point speed bonus.
Each answer in a row adds a 15-point streak bonus, up to 10 in a row.
Using a hint halves the points for that answer and skips the bonuses. Hints are only available on Easy and Medium.
Your score, streak and achievements are saved to your account when the game ends.

Classic

A fixed number of rounds, then a results screen.

Endless

Keep playing until you press Quit.

Time Attack

Fit in as many rounds as you can before the clock runs out.

Survival

Play until you run out of lives or make the game-ending mistake.
