How to play Kakuro
A crossword of numbers. Fill the white squares with digits 1 to 9 so every run adds up to the clue before it, with no digit twice in a run.

Goal
Fill every white square. Each puzzle has exactly one answer.
How to play
- A black square's clues: the top-right number is the total of the run to its right, the bottom-left number the total of the run below it.
- Select a white square and press a digit (or tap one below the grid). Backspace clears it.
- The runs through the selected square are shaded. A repeated digit turns red; a finished run turns its clue green or red.
- The board grows from 4×4 on Easy to 7×7 on Expert.
Example
Keyboard
| Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1–9 | Place a digit |
| Backspace | Clear the square |
| ←↑→↓ | Move between white squares |
Tips
- Some totals can only be made one way: 3 in two squares is 1+2, 17 is 8+9; in three squares, 6 is 1+2+3 and 24 is 7+8+9.
- Where two runs cross, the square needs a digit both can use.
- On Easy and Medium, a hint fills the selected square.
Scoring
- Every correct answer is worth 100 points, scaled by difficulty (Easy ×0.8, Medium ×1, Hard ×1.3, Expert ×1.6).
- Answering within 3 seconds adds a 25-point speed bonus.
- Each answer in a row adds a 15-point streak bonus, up to 10 in a row.
- Using a hint halves the points for that answer and skips the bonuses. Hints are only available on Easy and Medium.
- Your score, streak and achievements are saved to your account when the game ends.
