How to play Guess The Historical Figure

A famous person, ten clues, hardest first. Name them as early as you can - the fewer clues you need, the more you score.

Goal

Name each figure before the clues run out. A right answer on the first clue scores 100 points, on the second 90, down to 10 on the tenth.

How to play

  1. Pick a category - scientists, leaders, artists, explorers and more - or play them all.
  2. You see the category and the first clue. The early ones are about achievements and impact; they rarely give it away.
  3. Type a name, pick it from the list and press Guess - or press Next clue for another clue.
  4. The middle clues give the profession, the time and the region; the last ones the nationality, a famous work and the initials.
  5. When the round ends you meet the person: their portrait, life, achievements and a fun fact.

Example

Clue 1: His work transformed humanity's understanding of space and time. Name Albert Einstein now for 100 points, or wait for clues like the Nobel Prize and his famous equation.

Tips

  • Easy asks about people known all over the world; Medium adds more; Hard and Expert include less famous but important figures.
  • On Easy and Medium you can take hints - a first letter, the century, the nationality or the profession - for 10 points each.
  • Hard allows 5 guesses per figure and Expert 3. On Easy and Medium you can guess as often as you like.
  • Every figure has 15 clues and each round draws ten, so a figure you meet again gives you some new ones.

Scoring

  • A right answer on clue 1 is worth 100 points, then 10 fewer per clue - 10 points on clue 10. Difficulty scales it (Easy ×0.8, Medium ×1, Hard ×1.3, Expert ×1.6).
  • Each wrong guess takes 5 points, and each hint 10.
  • Each figure named in a row without hints adds a 15-point streak bonus, up to 10 in a row.
  • Scores are kept by the server; your score, streaks and achievements are saved to your account.
