Comment jouer à Mystery Mind

A short, strange scenario and one question: what really happened? Unlock clues when you need them, then say it in your own words.

Les boutons et menus de votre compte sont en anglais : ce guide les nomme tels que vous les verrez.

Objectif

Work out the explanation that makes every part of the story fit - using as few clues as you can.

Comment jouer

  1. Read the case file: a few sentences that seem odd or impossible, and the question to answer.
  2. Think first. Then, if you need one, unlock a clue. There are three, each stronger than the last, and a final hint that nearly gets you there.
  3. Type what you think happened. Your wording does not have to match ours - the idea does. You have three answers per case.
  4. Prefer to choose? Ask for options: four explanations, one pick, half the points.
  5. When the case closes you see the solution, how the clues fit it, and the key insight - the step that unlocks it.

Exemple

A woman walks into a hotel and at once knows she is bankrupt. She has not checked her bank account or spoken to anyone. How?

Clue 1: it is not an ordinary hotel. Clue 2: she is not travelling. Clue 3: she is playing a game.

She is playing Monopoly and has landed on a property with a hotel she cannot afford. "It was a board game" would be accepted just as well.

Conseils

  • The story never lies, but it lets you assume. Ask what you took for granted: who the person is, where this is, when, and how big.
  • Every detail is there for a reason. If a sentence seems unnecessary, it is probably the one that matters.
  • No mystery needs specialist knowledge. If your answer depends on an obscure fact, look for a simpler one.
  • A clue costs points; a wrong answer costs fewer. If you have an idea, try it before you unlock the next clue.
  • "Close" means part of your answer is right - say the missing part, not the same thing again.

Score

  • Solving with no clues is worth 100 points; after one clue 80, two 60, three 40, and 25 after the final hint.
  • Each wrong answer takes 10 points off.
  • Picking from the options halves what the case is worth.
  • Harder cases pay more: Medium a quarter more, Hard half as much again, Expert double.
  • Revealing the solution, or running out of answers, scores nothing and ends your streak.
  • A mystery you have already seen can be played again, for no points.
